Top 4 Awesome Sci-Fi Movies of 2011

2011 and 2012 thus far have been quite a ride for the Sci-fi community. We have seen great successes with movies such as the Avengers, Transformers, and other great movies. Sci-Fi isn’t necessarily just about aliens and weird monsters. There are also many different aspects of Sci-Fi which makes it such a popular genre among movie goers. In this article, we have a look at four of the best sci-fi movies of 2011. There are too many to count so don’t be offended if you feel I missed out on your favorites!

The first movie (list is in no particular order) is the good, old Transformers. Yes, I know there is basically no good plot that goes with the movie. It’s just about robots trashing each other with humans doing what they can to save the world. I have to include this movie because the effects continue to be just awesome. Although they lost Megan Fox, they were able to replace her with the equally stunning Rosie Huntington. It’s also funny how she is taller than Shia Lebeouf. The robot transformation continues to impress, and the flying humans (no CGI) will continue to remain in our memories.

The second movie is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. What a fitting end to the Harry Potter series. This movie focuses on Harry and co’s focus on destroying the final few horcruxes. The effects are awesome and we are able to see a few heroic moments from secondary characters like Neville.

The third movie is Contagion. I like this movie because it is different. What happens when the world is engulfed with an outrageously deadly varius? There is only one way to find out. This movie also has an impressive line of cast members including Marion Cotillard, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, and Matt Damon.

The final movie on our list of the top 4 sci-fi movies of 2011 is Rise of the Apes. I have always been a fan of the Planet of the Apes so I was so happy to see some form of sequel to it. Unlike its predecessors, this movie is based on Earth. It focuses on the genetic experimentation of one ape that triggers a battle for supremacy between humans and simians.

Again, there are many great sci-fi movies I have not referred to. Special mentions go to Real Steel, Battle: Los Angeles, Cowboy & Aliens, Captain America, and Thor.
