Spike Lee-Inside Man (2006) Review

Inside Man is Spike Lee’s newest action movie, starring Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster. It is about an NYPD organization that has to deal with a serious bank robbery attempt. This is the first Spike Lee movie that I have seen, and it has definitely given me a good first impression. The story line is brilliant, and the ending has so many twists and turns, that they had to make it 20 minutes long. I would definitely recommend this to any Drama, Crime, or Action movie fan, you will not be disappointed.

The film starts off strong, and the robbery takes place in the first 5 minutes, and it all excels from there. One strong point about the film, is that the viewers will question the incentives of the robbers. Are they robbing the bank with a financial incentive? Are they looking for revenge on someone? You won’t know until you have finished the film. Jodie Foster makes a strong appearance, playing as the lawyer/hostage negotiator. What I find very unique about this film, is the way the bank robbers are presented. You don’t see an angry, mean, ruthless criminal. You see all of the traits of the characters, how they interact with each other, and how they interact with the police.

The plot may be tough to understand at times, but overall it makes up a great movie. Who knew that Inside Man would pan out to be a box office hit? The production budget was $45 Million, and it garnered a respectable $88 Million. The top actors have picked the role to be in this film, and you can’t argue with their decisions. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie. You can buy it at Circuit City this weekend for only $9.99, it is well worth the money.
