This article has the most up-to-date info on the status of Quantico Season 2 as we continuously monitor the news to keep you in the know. ABC has scheduled the premiere date for a new season for September 25, 2016.
Basic info and storyline
Quantico is a new American thriller and action drama TV show that was developed for the ABC channel by the creator of the smash hit series Gossip Girl. Directed by Marc Munden and Stephen Kay, the new series is a co-production between Random Acts Entertainment and ABC Studios. Airing on Sunday nights, the new series debuted in the US on October 13, 2015.
The plot centers on a new crop of FBI trainees who have just arrived at the headquarters for their intense six-month training course. With different social and professional backgrounds, they all have one thing in common – a strong desire to protect their country. That’s one storyline. There is also a parallel storyline that shows the consequences of a horrible terrorist bombing in NYC with one of the former recruits being framed for it. She finds herself isolated at first and on the run, but soon some of her former teammates figure out that she is not the one to blame and put their efforts together to help her find the real threat.
Viewer reception and chances of renewal
Season 1 of Quantico debuted on ABC on October 13, 2015 and after very satisfying initial ratings, the total episode count was extended from nineteen to twenty-two. The current chapter is still in progress, and it is delivering more than 6 million total viewers per episode, which is a very solid result for any weekend broadcast. The reviews are mostly positive, with some minor criticism that has to do with the deadbeat subject of terrorist threats, some cliché characters (a cute blond, anyone?), and some exaggerated sense of American patriotism. Still, the approval rating is way above average and coupled with solid viewership numbers we think the show has more than enough grounds to get renewed.
Season 1 recap
A 22-part debut season of the new ABC network’s Sunday night drama and thriller television show Quantico bowed out on May 15, 2016. The new show has been able to keep up the level of mystery and excitement very well, which was subsequently reflected in very stable viewership numbers: the final episode drew in 3.8 million viewers and the first installment has interested on average 4.3 million viewers per episode. To the great relief of millions of fans, the creative team didn’t leave them with a cliffhanger and instead revealed in the final episode who the bomber was. Turns out, it was no other than Alex’s former teacher Liam. The finale ends with Alex contemplating an offer from the CIA after being let go from the FBI. When season 2 of Quantico starts filming in July, the production is moving to New York City from Montreal. Stay tuned for more new developments.
