Sequels are a really popular theme in Hollywood. So many movies have had multiple instalments, the Fast and Furious series being the best example. The best part about sequels is that the makers get to cash in on the popularity of the previous parts. It also helps if the previous instalments were successful as people always look forward to a film that is a part of hit franchises.

One of the new sequels in Hollywood is Zoolander 2. The film is the second instalment in the Zoolander franchise and the first film came out way back in 2001. The second part stars Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Penélope Cruz and Kristen Wiig. While Ben, Owen and Will were in the first part, Penélope Cruz and Kristen Wiig are the new additions to the sequel. Apart from them, the film will also have cameos from singers like Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande and Mika. Ben who directed the 2001 film has donned the director’s hat for this one too.

The film continues where were the first part ended. So, this one too is a comic take on the fashion industry. The sequel shows Ben and Owen back as models, but now a rival company is trying hard to take them out of business. The rest of the film is about how the two of them survive and from the looks of the trailers, the movie is hilarious.

Around eight years ago, Stiller confirmed that he was planning to make a sequel to Zoolander, but was waiting for the right script. The actor-director wanted the sequel to be worthy of the first part and didn’t want to compromise on the writing. Once he finalised the script, Ben rolled the filmed around two years ago.

The shooting for Zoolander 2 began somewhere last year and the film was wrapped up in a short span of time. Most parts of this latest film have been shot in Rome, Italy. The trailer met with a mixed response as some fans claimed that it did not live up to their expectations. This is mainly because the first part was loved by many and Ben set the bar really high.
