A+E Networks has taken a steak, er, stake in Panna, a cooking brand that features video and apps from top chefs. A+E led the series A round.
The Panna app, which has been downloaded more than 1 million times, is a subscription product featuring step-by-step video recipes from more than 30 James Beard award-winning, Michelin-starred chefs.
A+E-owned network FYI and Panna kicked off their partnership with 12 Hacks Of Christmas, a series of 45-second interstitials airing each night in FYI’s primetime block through December 24. Recipes from notable chefs including Seamus Mullen, Michael Anthony, Michael Tusk, and the Canal House will help viewers prepare for the holiday season. FYI is actively developing new content with Panna.
Panna recently launched Simmer, the “Instagram of video recipes,” that enables users to upload their own favorite recipes in step-by-step video format. Simmer has attracted such early adopters as the James Beard Foundation, Food52, and Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard, who posted video recipes to the free app.
“Panna is focused on the intersection of premium video content and digital product to deliver great experiences,” said Nancy Dubuc, President & CEO, A+E Networks. “Given those are areas of focus for FYI, we are extremely excited to partner with Panna.”
