John Carter is an upcoming science and adventure film that will be released in 2012, which is based on the heroic protagonist of the Barsoom series by Edgar Rice. In this movie you will see John Carter (played by Taylor Kitsch), who was once a Confederate captain, being transported to Barsoom or Mars. Once he is there, he becomes involved with a conflict among the different nations of the planet that have Princess Dejah Thoris (played by Lyn Collins) and Tars Tarkas (played by Willem Dafoe) as their leaders. Throughout the film, you will see the main actor attempts to save the planet of Barsoom and its people.

The film has been scored by Michale Giacchino, produced by Lindsey Collins, Colin Wilson and Jim Morris, written by Michael Chabon, Mark Andrews and Andrew Stanton, and has also been directed by Andrew Stanton. It can be revealed in this movie review that Walt Disney Pictures will be distributing the film, and it is expected to be released on March 9, 2012 in theaters across the United States in both IMAX 3D and Digital 3D formats. The filming of John Carter started in November of 2009, and the main photography occurred from January of 2010 to July of 2010. This film is actually the first time that Andrew Stanton will be working on a live adventure film, as his former work includes Pixar animated films such as WALL-E and Finding Nemo.

It is also worth mentioning in this movie review that the movie has been based on the novel ‘A Princess of Mars,’ which is actually the first ever novel to feature the character of this man full of adventure. Originally, the novel was first published for a magazine series in 1912; however, it was not until 1917 that it was brought to book format. Just as with the movie, the novel features John Carter who is a veteran of the American Civil War who has been transported to Barsoom or Mars. Soon after arrival, Carter learns that the planet is endangered because of the limited availability of water and atmosphere. He also learns that the only way to save the planet is by forming a peaceful alliance among all the inhabitants of the planet.

Andrew Stanton is very proud to call John Carter his live adventure directional debut, and based on the trailer for this movie, it is quite clear why he is confident about the film. Stanton knows how to transform his big ideas into something worth watching; and even though there was limited information available about this movie, critics believe that it will be one of the best movies of 2012.
