Another cinematic gem from Marvel Studios has come our way – Ant Man! And boy, is it good! Starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Pena, among others, the film is based on the Marvel comic series of the same name. The film has been directed by Peyton Reed, who in the past, has been responsible for helming films such as Yes Man, The Break – Up and Down With Love. He’s finally back to the big screen, with Ant Man.

The film follows the story of Scott Lang, an ex – convict, who is also a Robinhood-esque master thief. He only wants one thing when he is finally released from prison – to be with his daughter. However, he has trouble finding a job, since he’s got a criminal record, and in desperation, he goes back to crime. However, a heist he undertakes quickly changes his life, by making him a superhero. Meanwhile, having been thrown out of his own company, Dr. Hank Pym recruits Scott to save his company from his megalomaniac protege and Pym’s estranged daughter. Pym trains Lang, making him the minuscule hero, arming him with a suit that gives him the ability to shrink in size, harness superhuman strength and control hordes of ants. However, this is only the beginning. The new hero must use all his might to prevent Pym’s protege, Darren Cross, from perfecting the technology that allows a human to shrink, and use it for mass destruction and havoc.

The film has opened to a strong release worldwide, bringing in almost USD 90 million in North America alone, and almost USD 60 million from other countries.
