GI Joe – The Rise of Cobra is a movie with action and great special effects. Directed by Stephen Sommers, this movie has been a long time coming, and it definitely delivers. The cast is great and everyone delivers superb performances. This movie answers a lot of the questions as to the origins of GI Joe. Channing Tatum stars as the lead character of Duke and Marlon Wayans brings his comedic genius to the role of Ripcord who is Duke’s best friend. Both have great chemistry together. Sienna Miller plays Duke’s love interest in the movie. Sienna normally gets cast as the good girl, but in this movie she gets to strut her stuff as Duke’s exfiance’ gone bad proving hell really hath no fury than a woman scorned.
Dennis Quaid plays General Hawk, who is the one that recruits Duke and Ripcord into the GI Joe Team. Before Duke and Ripcord can qualify to join the Joes General Hawk puts them through a series of rigorous tests to prove they’re worthy to be Joes. Naturally they pass and they get in. They’re first mission of course is to save the world from villians like Christopher Eccleston, who lives up to his bad guy image as James MCCullen who is the creator of a Nanno technology that can control people’s minds to the point they feel no pain and no remorse. This could prove deadly for the world if they succeed. They’re plan is to build an army of these unfeeling soldiers. They would be the perfect weapon. MCCullen’s partner in crime is The Doctor played by Joseh Gordon-Levitt, who is not what he seems.
In the end the GI Joe team saves the day in the nick of time. GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra has great special effects along with a dynamic script. The cinematography especially the scenery in the helicopter shots is breath taking and the computer generated objects look very real. GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra is definitely a must see. It is safe to say there will be a sequel. It’s movie going fun for the whole family.
