Watching a great adventure movie can be the cure for just about anything. With tremendous action scenes and numerous amazing graphics, adventure movies are among some of the biggest box-office hits year in and year out. Here are three adventure movies you should see.

Man of Steel

Henry Cavill stars in the lead role in this reboot of the original Superman film series. From the movie trailer, you’ll see similarities to the original which tells the story of a young boy transported to Earth from his dying planet, Krypton. He is adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent (played by Kevin Costner and Diane Lane) and grows up out of place with his Midwestern values and unique super powers. When the world is attacked, Clark Kent, a journalist, becomes the super hero, Superman, the man of steel. He will battle the evil General Zod, played by Michael Shannon, who is a Krypton general and wishes to conquer Earth. Amy Adams takes on the role of Lois Lane, reporter for the Daily Planet and the love interest of one Clark Kent.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Set in the Middle-earth 60 years prior to The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is an adventure you must see. The story starts out with the hobbit Bilbo Baggins writing his story down for his favorite nephew, Frodo Baggins. Bilbo is celebrating his 111th birthday just prior to the beginning of The Lord of the Rings. Bilbo is convinced by the wizard Gandalf to reclaim the Lonely Mountain. He will go with 13 dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield on a quest across the Middle-earth to regain their homeland. Action, adventure, and pure entertainment is this prequel. The dwarves’ party scene in the movie trailer is enough to make you want to see this one.

The Lone Ranger

Based on one of the most popular Old West television shows in American history, The Lone Ranger rides again. Tonto, played by megastar Johnny Depp, tells the story of John Reid, a former Texas Ranger. Reid, played by Armie Hammer, is the lone survivor of a slaughter of Texas Rangers. His companion, Tonto, is an American Indian spirit warrior and the two form an unlikely pair seeking to fight against the ills of society. There is enough adventure just in the film’s movie trailer to have you white-knuckling on the edge of your theater seat. If that’s not enough, Depp is simply brilliant as the Lone Ranger’s sidekick.
