Watch the Bloodiest Horror Movies on Satellite TV

A little blood and gore go a long way to turn a mediocre horror film into a brilliant bloodfest. The more blood the merrier, right? These films are not for the faint of heart. They are not for your grandmother or little sister, unless they have iron stomachs and like a little gruesomeness in their films. These films are to be watched in full HD glory-try not to flinch.

Irreversible: This French flick is a psychological thriller slash horror show starring Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel. It was declared overwhelming, the most disturbing and controversial film in 2002, the year it was released. The heart of the matter lays in the nine minute long rape scene, portrayed in one single continuous shot. It’s difficult to watch, but perhaps more difficult still is the fire extinguisher bludgeon scene. Brutal and bloody. Try not to close your eyes. Given the controversy surrounding this flick, you’re probably not going to find it on any satellite TV station; you’re better off renting the HD DVD.

Ichi The Killer: Takashi Miike is the director of this splendidly sanguine story. The movie is infamous for its pumped up level of gore and violence, and we can’t forget, its full fledged depravity. Ichi is a sadomasochistic yakuza killer who cuts out part of his tongue to please his boss. As a publicity gimmick, vomit bags were handed out to audience members at the Toronto international Film Festival in 2001.

Cannibal Holocaust: Cannibals eat human flesh. Of course, a cannibal film, just by its very nature, is disgusting. This film brings the cannibal genre to new heights of grotesque. The film has graphic scenes of rape and torture. There are scenes in which people get dismembered and animals are slaughtered. Ruggero Deodato was held under fire for the brutality of this movie. In fact, its banned in most countries. Probably not something you’d really want to watch in HD, even hardcore fans of gore will be rattled.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Although perhaps not as tough and gruesome as the previous entries, this one still ranks pretty high. A chainsaw wielding wacko called Leatherface and his family of cannibals attack a group of young friends on a roadtrip. The film is considered a horror classic; when it was first released, many countries either banned it or delayed its release. A high definition DVD version has been released and you can see the film on satellite TV, as it airs frequently.

Dead Alive or Braindead: This movie is from the same director of the Rings trilogy. Many regard it as the goriest film ever made. The plot involves a Sumatran Rat-monkey, which kills people and turns them into zombies. The blood starts flooding in during the second half of the movie when the zombie count starts rising. Although this film is one of the goriest out there, it is also a horror comedy, so you’ll get some laughs out of it, if the blood doesn’t get to you first.
